Who are we?
We Are The Rad Black Kids.
We are the vibrant, the complex, the uncontainable. We are everyone who has ever been painted over with a broad brush, refusing to be defined by a monolithic view. Our brand is a testament to the beautiful, multifaceted reality of who we are.
Our Story: From Necessity to Narrative
The Rad Black Kids was born from a simple, powerful desire: to see faces like our own reflected in the world of action sports.
It began in a small Idaho town, where our founder, an immigrant from Zimbabwe, found freedom on a snowboard in the winter. But when summer came, the thrill was gone. Unable to afford a longboard, he tapped into his architectural background and built his own, repurposing a deck from 1996.
That act of creation sparked a revolution.
Officially established in 2014, we launched with a line of durable, weather-resistant longboards built with one thing in mind: the rider. They flew off the shelves, proving that the world was hungry for a new perspective.
But our vision was always bigger than the board. In 2015, we took our core principles of quality, durability, and longevity and wove them into our first clothing collection. We realized that every garment could be a canvas for immersive storytelling—a way to share narratives from Zimbabwe and the global African diaspora. Each piece is a "soldier" in our crusade to shatter stereotypes.
Our Evolution: Purpose-Driven Craft
Today, we have evolved into a brand dedicated to narrative-based design and responsible production.
· Elevated Craftsmanship: All our products are now ethically made in Portugal, partnering with factories that share our commitment to quality and fair labor.
· Sustainability at Our Core: We are in a climate emergency, and we are acting like it. Since day one, we've planted a tree for every product sold. Now, we are radically increasing our impact by planting 20 trees for every single item you purchase.
The Ride Continues
The Rad Black Kids is more than a brand; it's a community and a movement. We are here to reclaim our space, tell our stories, and protect our planet—one shoe, one garment, one tree at a time.
